Game District, an indoor leisure centre located in the heart of Chambéry, offers numerous activities from its opening: Quiz, Blind Test, Karaoke, ... But how to diversify its offer while limiting the weight of investment? With the subscription WHERIZ® Projection, its manager Frédéric Maillard found the answer: 400 players and 80 teams in 2 months, and now an essential activity of his centre.

The need: diversify without investing

Game District already has several rooms equipped with projectors. Frédéric was looking for a complementary activity to his Quiz, blind test and Karaoke, capable of extending the time spent on site by his clients — without investing in new equipment. It was he who approached WHERIZ® to test the concept in a projected version on his existing equipment.

From impulse activity to long session in the room

WHERIZ® was initially conceived as an impulse activity: a few minutes of play, at the heart of an event, with the format WHERIZ® Cube. With the arrival of the format WHERIZ® Wall, Frédéric saw something else: a long session, played in a dedicated room, in a small group. It was he who pushed this idea — and who believed in it.

Settled on the sofa, glass in hand, the clients take turns on a smartphone — a tablet works too — and move around the projected image using a mouse that allows them to zoom and navigate. Everyone plays at the same time, in collaborative mode: no one waits for their turn. Frédéric also plays background music related to the theme of the scenario, to enhance immersion.

The groups do not disengage, they ask for more. Initially, the application limited each game to 15 minutes: teams would therefore play 2 or 3 games in a row to extend the session. With the Premium subscription, the application now allows only one game per session, with an extended duration — and the players' engagement remains the same.

A personalised welcome, then total autonomy

Frédéric insists on personally welcoming each group and takes a few minutes to explain the concept before starting the game.

Once the session has started, the players are completely autonomous: unlike an escape game, no game master is needed to accompany the game.

Frédéric can thus manage several rooms simultaneously without mobilising additional staff.

Two uses for a single subscription

In public activity, WHERIZ® extends a Quiz or Karaoke session. Frédéric charges a fee of €10 per person, for groups of 2 to 6 players — a deliberately accessible entry price, designed to encourage clients to extend their experience with him rather than as a self-sustaining activity.

In group and corporate services, the format lends itself to team building: several teams compete simultaneously in different rooms, on the same scenario or on different scenarios, with a ranking specific to the event.

The scenario catalogue, a true engine of loyalty

The Projection subscription provides access to the entire WHERIZ® scenario catalogue, regularly enriched (about one new scenario per quarter). Frédéric started with a single theme — but very quickly, the players themselves asked if there were other universes, to have a good reason to come back and play.

He also set up a monthly ranking, generated directly from the WHERIZ® Play: each month, the leading team wins a small reward (free drink, discount...). A simple competition to organise, which helps maintain the connection with the players and gives them a concrete reason to return several times in the month.

The figures, since April 2026

  • 400 players
  • 80 teams

What to remember

The Game District case illustrates what the Projection subscription allows for an indoor leisure centre already equipped with a projector:

  • Zero material investment — a smartphone or tablet, a mouse, the screen already in place
  • An activity that extends the time spent on site, rather than a simple isolated addition to the catalogue
  • No game master required : a welcome of a few minutes is enough, the players are then autonomous
  • A scenario catalogue that is enriched every quarter, natural engine of loyalty through the monthly competition integrated into the application

Frédéric Maillard has agreed to testify in a video about his experience with WHERIZ®
